DAY 53

STORY #53

The Highwayman

The coach rocketed through the dawn. A bitter man: innocent, but declared outlawed, sat on horseback. Upon hearing the thundering hooves, he roused himself. Pulling a mask over his face, he leapt his horse in front of the coach!

“Stand and Deliver!” A figure charged from the carriage, and hurled himself at the robber--they struggled for the highwayman’s pistol. "Don’t shoot! It’s me!” The robber stared. It was a manservant of the Duke of Newport. “I’ve come to tell you, you’ve been exonerated! You’re not an outlaw, anymore!” The robber dropped the gun, embracing the brother he nearly killed.
