DAY 57

STORY # 57

Birthday Surprise

Music blared, as people danced the evening away. It was Nattie’s birthday. She and her friends were partying at an old holiday cottage in the country. A boy went to his car for cigarettes--and didn’t return. His girl ran to Nattie.

"Phill’s not back yet, and he’s not outside!” She fretted. Nattie merely shrugged. “Maybe he just went for some fresh air.” Then, without warning, the lights went out. People began panicking. “Oh, don’t worry! It’s only a power failure,” Nattie shouted. “The dark can’t hurt you.” Meanwhile, from behind her, a skeletal, withered hand reached for her neck.
