True Love

In the sultry evening, the muted sun was setting behind the hills. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson strolled into town, going to the music hall. It was their fifth wedding anniversary, and the Andersons were still very much in love.

They came to the rail station, the dark, prosaic building’s windows, reflecting the blood-red sun, when Mrs. Anderson’s heel caught in the rail track. Stuck fast, Mr. Anderson couldn’t shift it. And then, the whistle blew. The evening express was coming. Unable help her--he did the only thing left--held her in his arms, as the train took their lives.
